Old County Court
The existing court building at the corner of Lonsdale and William Streets has undergone a major refurbishment that included the upgrade of the building base, the façade, services infrastructure and amenities cores.
James L. Williams’ mechanical work included the replacement of all the systems to a 5-star GreenStar standard. It serves as a great example of how older buildings can be retrofitted to meet current energy standards.
Two new chillers were installed within the basement, which due to limited access were assembled on site. Additionally, two new boilers mounted on a skid base within a weather-proof housing were craned onto the roof as one complete unit.
The air conditioning to the court rooms was achieved through ceiling mounted fan coil units and the office floors were ventilated through active chilled beams and skirting radiators.
A heat recover wheel on the outside air and spill air system works to minimise energy usage.
